The Color of the Year 2012 is...Tangerine Tango!

For all fashion forward brides:

It's official, Pantone has name Tangerine Tango as the color of 2012.  This color will be the IT color in fashion, home design, and yes, weddings.  According to Pantone, the choice of Tangerine Tango "provide(s) the energy boost we need to recharge and move forward."

For those unfamiliar with Pantone, a little background: Pantone LLC is the world-renowned authority on color and provider of color systems and leading technology for the selection and accurate communication of color across a variety of industries. The wedding industry relies heavily on the Pantone color system for bridesmaid dresses, linens, and all other color items related to weddings.

Now to the good stuff!  What will Tangerine Tango look like in weddings?  Trendy brides may use Tangerine Tango as their main color, or could pair it with another color to add pizazz and pop.

One option would be to use Tangerine Tango as an accent color, while keeping all other decor white.  Additional colors can be used in this scheme, but should be kept to lighter hues to avoid competing with the red-orange color.

Bridesmaid dresses can really make a statement in Tangerine Tango, and you can find it in a variety of style to suit each of your girls.

Lounge furniture looks hot with a pop of Tangerine Tango!

Don't think that using Tangerine Tango means you can't have a traditional look for your wedding.  Roses in this color look romantic and traditional, while adding interest to classic white tables.

If you and your groom are fun, bright personalities, consider pairing Tangerine Tango with another color that creates drama and a stunning look to your wedding.  Tangerine Tango (or perhaps a lighter shade of orange) and Purple could create a fun, tropical sunset look.

How to Create Your Wedding Budget

When you first get engaged, you might be filled with such anticipation for the perfect wedding that you overlook the important detail of how you will PAY for your perfect wedding. Creating a wedding budget can help you from beginning your marriage in debt, and it can help keep you from spending too much on one thing, because you are better able to see the bigger picture.

First, decide on your total wedding budget amount.  The easiest way to do this is to follow this simple equation:

Once you have determined your total budget, break down your wedding budget into categories.
Each category should get a specific percentage of your budget.  This will give you a limit of spending for each category.  If you spend more than your estimated amount on a category, decrease the amount of another category accordingly.

Here is a basic breakdown of how much each category should consist of:

The third step of creating your wedding budget is to list all items within each category.  Be as specific as possible.  While making purchases for your wedding, you can refer to this list to keep you on check and to decide wether or not certain items or services are suitable for your budget.

Update your budget as you make purchases and you will always know where you are in terms of your wedding spending.

Happy Planning!

The Duties of your Wedding Party

You're engaged!
You immediately call your best friend and ask her to be your maid of honor.
With all the excitement, she says yes.
But as your wedding day arrives, your maid of honor hasn't done a single thing.
What's going on?
Sometimes, the people you choose to be in your wedding don't even realize that they have duties in your wedding!

When you select your wedding party, make sure each person understands his or her role and duties in your wedding. If members of your wedding party are unclear of what their duties are, you may end up having more stress. Wedding Trend: Wedding Music Videos!

Couples who hire a videographer are looking to have their wedding memories captured in a unique way that they can enjoy for years to come.  An emerging trend has been for couples to have their videographer create a music video of their wedding day.  Now, couples are begining to take this trend to a whole new level by having a music video created using footage of their wedding day AND footage of them lip singing the song during their wedding day!

This is an example of the present trend of having wedding footage set to a song to create a music video:

Here are two examples of the new trend in which couples (and even guests) are "singing" the song:

Bridal Guide Magazine has several tips they share on how to create a music video of your wedding day:

►Learn the Lyrics: Make sure anyone you plan to include in the singing portion knows the words by heart; your video will look much more natural if you're not studying the sheet right before the shot!

►Watch the Original Video: The videographer, Elysium Productions, gathered inspiration from Cobra Starship's video. This enabled them to pre-produce graphics and wording.

►Make a Timeline: The couple's planner, Carolyn Chen of The Special Day, coordinated the schedule to ensure that Ella and Sam had time to film their video without taking away from their big day. This also meant coordinating with the other vendors, like lighting and photo booth, to make sure everything was in the right place when it was time to film.
(Power Wedding Planning may be the perfect coordinator for you if you are in the Green Bay area!)

►Create a Shot List: The biggest challenge is making sure that you have every word covered! Elsyium Productions created a shot list to prevent any mishaps.

Wedding Trend: Bridesmaid Clutches intead of Bouquets?!

I LOVE this idea!  Instead of having your girls carry flowers, and having to stuff their essentials in their bras (hey, it really happens!), consider a clutch with flowers pinned to it!

Choose a clutch that compliments your wedding colors, then choose flowers to pin onto each clutch.  Your girls will love that they can keep their essentials with them and still look fab!

For the flowers, you decide what kind of flowers to use.  You can even choose real OR artificial flowers.  If you find artificial flowers you love, they will last all night...and beyond....without wilting.  PLUS...this can serve as your gift to your bridesmaids too!!!!

So come on, are  you loving this trend too now?!

Save Money on Your Wedding

  • Engagement Photograph Have a friend use a digital camera to take several great shots. All you have to pay for is the prints.

  • Use EVite for invitations for events such as the bridal shower or bachelorette party. Works especially well if your friends and family frequently use the internet.

  • Shop in bulk, try Costco, Sam's Club, and party outlet stores.

  • Use an MP3 Player or iPod instead of hiring a DJ.

  • Library wedding books can be great sources of inspiration and you don't have to pay for them!

  • Don't rush into booking vendors before discussing things with your groom and other key players of your wedding.

  • Choose a smaller bridal party, this equals less costs for bouquets, gifts, and transportation.

  • List every item on your budget and add a reserve for miscellaneous for things such as tips.

  • Venue capacity. Make sure the number of guests you are having will fit!

  • Your wedding gown should be ordered according to the manufacturer's measurements. Don't get caught up on the fact that it might not be your usual size
